History

Created in 2007 by Sam Ross (also the creator of the Penicillin) for The Violet Hour in Chicago. It is named after M.I.A.'s song “Paper Planes”, which was on repeat while he worked on it.

Decoration

For fun, garnish with a tiny paper plane clipped to the rim.

Variation

If you can't find Amaro Nonino, another soft, orangey amaro works, though the result will be more bitter.
